The Smoky Mountain Quizfest is the Waywalkers' biggest event of the quiz year except, arguably, for the top 10 district quizzers who make the teams for regionals in April. It is a time of building friendships, having a blast with adventurous activities, and getting fully immersed into tournament quizzing. This competition draws quiz teams from across the Southeast region-from Kentucky down to Florida. It is a fun way to kick off and build excitement for the competitive Bible quizzing season ahead.

Quizfest is not an official district event, but an optional great time. We will create Quizfest teams based on individual performances during the matches held during the first three league practices. These teams will likely not remain the same for the regular season.

(Tentative)

Thursday, August 5th

We leave early in the morning and drive 6 hours of the trip and stop in Fort Payne, Alabama at True Adventure Sports for a wild caving adventure ($48.50) for those that dare and don't mind getting good and grimy. Quizzers who don't want to go caving can hangout, along with a chaperone, and check out the TAS compound. Quizzers will stay overnight at the True Adventure Sports compound, or if his or her parent(s) is coming, they can stay with them at a nearby hotel. If there is the availability and a parent is up to roughing it in the gender-assigned bunkhouses, they are welcome to stay at the compound as well ($12). ($ fast food lunch and dinner)

Friday, August 6th

We head out early and drive another 3 hours to arrive at River Rat Tubing Outpost in Tennessee and we spend the afternoon tubing down Pigeon River ($18). ($ fast food breakfast and lunch)

We arrive at the Foothills Camp and Retreat Center in time for dinner and the evening events of The Smoky Mountain Quizfest ($65).

Saturday, August 7th

The all-day tournament begins. We crush it.

Sunday, August 8th

We may stay for morning activities or get an early start home after breakfast. Will update as Quizfest schedule is clarified.       ($ fast food lunch and dinner)

Quizzing with the Waywalker league throughout the season has minimal associated costs (book, t-shirt, and a 2-4 fast food meals.) Special event competitions (for current top 10 quizzers) in central Florida generally have the cost of 4 meals each. For the top 10 quizzers in the Central Gulf Coast District or Southeastern Region who choose to participate, the regional and national competitions are associated with greater costs.

The Smoky Mountain Quizfest is the main cost of the season for quizzers other than the top 10 in the district at the end of the season.
